ABOUT: Lovely miniature antique Victorian solid silver twist up chatelaine pencil with raised rococo designs and swirls all around. Some original pencil lead remaining so still a usable item. You twist the smooth bottom that holds the loop and it extends the pencil. NO MONOGRAMS on it. Chain is not included but I have some delicate sterling chains, so please contact me if you'd like to add one to your order. The piece measures 1 1/2 inches in length, a little over 2 with pencil extended. MARKS: Marked the loop and with the mark for French solid silver items. IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES: Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition. Sometimes if you over twist it the case comes apart from the pencil mechanism and loop so it goes into two pieces. It does not fall out on its own and the twist mechanism functions, extending the holder that has the lead. Usually with these when the pencil is extended, you twist the top, and the pencil lead lengthens and retracts, but the pencil tip seems to be stuck with what is seen in photos of the lead sticking out. I don't know if this could be repaired or if you'd have to manually change out the lead when it gets worn down. So please note those issues when it comes to functionality. Not a lot of nicks or much surface wear. The designs are nice and it has held its shape well. Pencil expands and retracts nicely and it will be secure worn as a pendant with no danger of the pencil coming out on its own. But Please note that due to age this piece is not in mint condition.
