    Sterling Silver (.925) 7" Plate
    Date Mark 1907
    This is an Antique Sterling Silver plate made by Gorham.  The plate measures approximately 7" in diameter (see photo #11) and weighs approximately 7.4 oz which is 6.74 troy ounces.  The style number on the back of the plate is A6 744 (see photo #9).  The Gorham Company Maker's Marks and Sterling is stamped above the style number.  Gorham used date marks from the year 1868 to the year 1933 to indicate which year an item was made.  The date mark on this plate is a pair of scissors (see photo #10) which indicates that the plate was made in the year 1907.  So this plate is 107 years old and has the usual patina that Sterling Silver acquires over time and use.  The plate is in excellent condition for its age.
    I purchased it in 2006 to display an antique Gorham perfume bottle.  But I never did use the plate to display the bottle.  I ended up just storing the plate, and it is in the same condition as when I purchased it.

    I polished this silver plate before taking the photos and again just before packing it.  It is now packed for shipping.  Hopefully the plate will not tarnish in the time that it takes to find its new home; but if it does, the plate will polish up with any high-quality silver cleaner.
