CHERUBS Antique OVAL Solid Silver Victorian Mourning Treasure Box LOCKET Pendant

ABOUT:
Interesting antique locket pendant that is actually a box! At almost 1/2 inch depth, the lid can be removed to open the box and insert charms, keepsakes or photos.  It doesn't hinge open and closed, but rather comes open in two pieces.  Kind of a unique form in the way it would stand out in 3D when you wear it. It has a cut glass pane inserted into the front and cover allowing you to see inside the box.  Around the rim on both the front and back is a scalloped design with small images of cherubs / angels.
This is an antique piece from the Belle Epoque period that I acquired in France.
Please note the glass panes are loose in the silver frames on each side of the box.  So when you open it, the glass comes free from the box.  So you will see in the photos that there is a cardboard cutout included lining inside the box - this upright cardboard puts pressure on the two lids, holding the glass panes in place.  It actually holds them pretty securely so if you were to use the box to hold photos, you could keep the cardboard in place between the photos. However if you plan to use it to hold charms, you would likely need to epoxy or glue the glass frames into place so they stay inside each lid without the cardboard.
The pendant measures about 1 1/3" tall, by 1 1/2 inch wide by almost 1/2 inch deep.
MARKS:
The inside rim is marked with the French boar's head hallmark for solid silver items.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition.  The glass panes are free from the frames as described above.   A few spots and discolored areas from age on the inside of the box.  Age appropriate surface wear which has resulted in a nice patina.  No deep dings, dents or bends, just some uniform surface wear and linear marks here or there as seen in photos.  The cover doesn't snap in place, but slides open and closed snugly and does not seem in danger of opening on its own.  But the cardboard is needed to hold the glass in place.
