HISTORICAL Bailey & Co. Sterling Silver Salver, Circa 1855-1878
Bailey & Company was the successor to Bailey & Kitchen.
The Lion, S, Shield marks denote Sterling Silver
6 3/8 INCHES in diameter
Mabel Stinson obtained the Salver or Tray and had it engraved to give to her Godson, Hugh Robert Wilson, Jr. They tray was most likely in the Stinson family.
Mr. Wilson served many government posts, the most notable being US Ambassador to Germany in 1938.  He upheld some of the Nazi ideals and attended Nazi party functions: how could he not.  He remained pro American before, during and after WWII.
