    Description

Selling a collection of antique French chains so please see my other offerings - many more coming soon!
    ABOUT:
If you ever browse old jewelry on instagram, you'll see the trend of taking these old watch chains and turning them into layering necklaces.  Here is a beautiful piece that is lovely alone or can be connected to other pieces to make a bracelet or necklace.
The piece is an antique French rose and yellow gold filled watch chain with three sections of double chain that are made of very fine links, separated by two little floral charms that are double sided and set with 4 pearls on each side.  On one end is a rose gold XL spring ring and two spiked ball charms (Medeival mace or Morningstar?) and on the other side is the fob clasp.
This is from the early 1900s Belle Epoque era, which connects nicely to other chains or alone and really adds colorful drama. Please note the length though, it is too short to wear as a necklace, too large to wrap single around the wrist as a bracelet, but too short to wrap double around the wrist, but it is lovely.
There is a hallmark on the clasp but I couldn't decipher it, could be one of the French gold fill hallmarks as they were known for their high quality laminated gold foil over brass that allowed the items to withstand wear.
    MEASUREMENTS:
Chain is a little over 9 inches long from clasp to clasp.
    CONDITION:
A few crimps and kinks to the chain where the fine loops were pressed and bent.  Still functions fine but you can see in the pic where I am holding it up, there are still kinks in the chain.  A few areas of loss to the gold fill where the underlying brass shows.  Some surface wear and a few signs of its age but still presents beautifully.
Due to age, please note this is not a mint condition item.
Still many years left in this old beauty from an interesting period in history.
I dearly love, collect, use and sell antiques so please check out my other listings and thanks so much for stopping by my shop!
