The use of this plate could be almost anything.   It may have been used to place a decanter or wine bottle on a table.  It could hold appetizers or tea cakes.  The back of the glass has the design which appears coated with white glaze.  This should be washed by hand with warm water and never heavily scrubbed.  I have a second identical dish that has some of the white worn off. It does not affect the look of the tapestry, but I haven't listed it yet.    There is a lovely ruffled edging f the dish. Quite nice.
