I just purchased this antique Royal Crown Derby bone china Porter mug from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The mug is characteristic of the Imari inspired designs produced by the renowned Derby works during the mid 19th century. The piece is beautifully executed in fine translucent china with crisp mold and nice detail to the ringed cylindrical bowl and scrolled handle. The hand painted design in traditional Imari palette shows rich color and fine line throughout. The piece measures 3 ½" high, 3 ¾" across the top rim and 5 ¼" at the handle. The base is marked only with a hand painted production symbol. The mug is in very good condition with no damage. There is some minor / slight scattered wear to the exterior finish. This handsome Porter mug would make a fine addition to your collection of 19th century Derby Imari décor porcelains.
