Royal Crown Derby Cuthbert Gresley Floral Porcelain Serving Tray A277 1940
Beautiful hand painted Serving Tray.    Celadon rim with hand painted floral spray in the center, signed by Cuthbert Gresley.  The edge richly gilded.
Cuthbert Gresley (1876-1963) was regarded as one of Derby’s finest artists and worked on the service presented by Derby on the marriage of Princess Mary of Cambridge.
Marked on the base with the Royal Crown Derby backstamp for the year 1940.    Being made during WW2, makes this piece even more remarkable, because production during the war years was greatly reduced.
Pattern A277
About 9 5/8 inches max diameter across the handles, and 8 5/8 inches the other way.
Excellent condition, no chips, no cracks and no repairs.
